Julia Sutherland - Comedian, Host, Singer, Actor, Writer, Tree-Hugger
Welcome to Julia Sutherland’s website. Julia came into this life with a mission, and for the past 32 years she’s been trying desperately to remember what it was. She does know, however, that it involves music, laughter, a love of language and a fair helping of New Age philosophy. Much like her cooking, the quantities of each ingredient are prone to vary vastly day to day. The only certainty is that, like her cooking, there is always plenty of zest.
Currently, Julia is applying herself to finishing a drawer full of previously unfinished symphonies, in the form of a book of poetry, a new one-woman show and a screenplay for a feature film. Recently, she completed the Introduction to Radio course at Melbourne Radio School.
In 2008 Julia’s show ‘Word’ enjoyed full houses as part of the Melbourne International Comedy Festival. In her travels, Julia has been declared ‘Superb!’ by the BBC, and ‘Impeccably focused…riveting’ by Australian playwright David Williamson.
Julia can now be seen regularly on Sunday nights hosting the Piano Bar @ The Opium Den; an open mic night for theatrically and sheet musically inclined. It’s fresh, it’s funny, it’s free and it’s always fabulous, darling! Do pop along.
